The Dominican Republic is democratic and Dominicans are Catholic. Dominicans are friendly and welcoming and generally very interested in sport. The locals seem easy to get in touch with and are not dismissive of tourists.
The island and the area is not marked by crime, but of course you have to use common sense and think about where you are in the night hours like in other areas of the world.
The climate is tropical with an average temperature of about 25-27 degrees year round. The water is 24-28 degrees year round. The month of May is the rainiest, but usually it rains at night, and September is windy.
We can divide the season into two: from mid-October to end April and June to end-August, when it’s a little warmer in the last period – about 30-35 degrees.
